This song was originally written in the early spring of 2008 and appears on my first album 'Groovin' the Mill' that was released under the name She Feels Like Pittsburgh (no longer in circulation). It was a love song written for the town of Braddock PA and its plethora of abandonments. The original version was painfully simple thus it lent itself to the haunt & harmony genre. This song is meant to show the eroticism of exploring an abandoned building.
lyrics
I am walking down the street
I am walking I am walking
look what I happen to stumble upon
the door is open
so inviting
beckoning me to come in
the windows are boarded
begging me to come and see
what lies on the other side
and I step in
the air smells of must & mold
the debris crunches under my feet
I can see plaster littering the floor
and I wonder who lived here before
and why they don't live here anymore
I walk into the next room
and I look around
the roof is caving
the wood is rotting
the paint is peeling
the brick is crumbling away
oh I see beauty in
I see beauty in decay
I see beauty in
I see beauty in decay
and as I walk down the street
desolate delapidation
and brick blackened by industry
and the only sign of life I see
are the sparks flying in the mill ahead of me
and I am infinitely intrigued
this is beauty
oh such dismal beauty
this is... this is... abandoned intrigue
this is... this is... abandoned intrigue
